Chai Hu Jia Mang Xiao Tang

Pattern: Shaoyang disorder with injury to Stomach Yin (usually due to inappropriate purging)

Key Symptoms: Constipation, fullness in the chest and hypochondria with vomiting, alternating chills and fever (with fever more prominent in the afternoon).

Chai Hu 9g
Huang Qin 3g
Ren Shen 3g
Zhi Ban Xia 3g
Mang Xiao 6g
Zhi Gan Cao 3g
Sheng Jiang 2sl
Da Zao 4pcs

In the UK Mang Xiao must be substituted with Yu Li Ren.

Preparation: Decoction.

Actions: Harmonises and releases the Shaoyang, softens hardness, drains downward
