Ding Zhi Wan

Settle the Emotions Pill

Category: Formulas that Calm the Spirit

Pattern: Heart Qi deficiency and constraint caused by Phlegm turbidity

Key Symptoms: Restlessness, insomnia, palpitations, forgetfulness, dizziness, anxiety, confusion, inability to concentrate
Secondary Symptoms: Disorientation, apprehension, worry, incessant laughter and glee, nearsightedness

Tongue: Pale body with white coat
Pulse: Deep, tight, without force

Ren Shen
Fu Ling
Shi Chang Pu
Yuan Zhi
Fu Shen
Bai Zhu
Mai Men Dong
Zhu Sha

Zhu Sha is no longer used due to toxicity. It may be substituted with Hu Po or just omitted.

Preparation: Ground into powder and formed into pills with honey to take in 6g doses. Presently usually prepared as a decoction.

Actions: Tonifies the Heart, strengthens the resolve, calms the Shen

Contraindications: Blood or Yin deficiency without the presence of Phlegm-Dampness

Same as Ding Zhi Wan from the Essential Formulas Worth One Thousand Gold but for more severe restlessness and insomnia.
