Pattern: Stomach Heat with Cold in the Intestines and long-standing Spleen deficiency Cold, Cold rejection (Han Ge)

Key Symptoms: Vomiting immediately after eating, diarrhoea
Secondary Symptoms: Diarrhoea need not always be present and this formula can also be used where vomiting is not helped by formulas based on Mu Xiang, Sha Ren, Chen Pi and Ban Xia (Ke Qin, in Scheid et al. 2009, 133)

Preparation: Decoction.

Actions: Unblocks the Qi dynamic with acrid herbs, directs downwards with bitter herbs, regulates and tonifies the Spleen and Stomach

Cold rejection is when a person with long-standing Cold-type diarrhoea is mistakenly purged and contracts a Cold Damage disorder, exacerbating the Cold below which rejects the descent of Heat from above leading to an increase in diarrhoea accompanied by vomiting immediately after eating.
