Pattern: Exterior Wind-Cold disorder with simultaneous Blood or Yin deficiency due to long term illness or significant blood loss.

Key Symptoms: Headache, fever and slight chills without sweating following a long term illness or significant blood loss.


Ingredients
Cong Bai 9-12g
Ge Gen 9-12g
Sheng Di Huang 9-15g
Mai Men Dong 9-12g
Sheng Jiang 6-9g



Preparation: Decoction. The original text advises uses "worked water" which is repeatedly ladled until bubbles cover the surface and only the water near the surface is used. This was considered the seventh ingredient. At present this process is no longer used.

Actions: Nourishes the Blood and releases the Exterior

Contraindications: Only slight sweating is desirable as pronounced sweating will aggravate the condition. The source text advises to administer slowly and only after it has been determined the patient is definitely not sweating.
