Ba Wei Huang Qi Jiu

Pattern: Yang Qi deficiency of the Kidneys

Key Symptoms: Cold hands and feet, aching and pain of the lower back and knees



Ingredients
Huang Qi 60g
Bi Xie 45g
Fang Feng 45g
Chuang Xiong 45g
Niu Xi 45g
Du Huo 30g
Shan Zhu Yu 30g
Wu Wei Zi 60g
Bai Jiu 1.95L

Subsitutions:
Bai Jiu (white alcohol) traditionally means rice wine but can be substituted with any other high strength spirit.



Preparation: Grind the herbs into a coarse powder and place in a large jar with 1.95L of alcohol. Seal the lid and leave to tincture for 3 days in the spring and summer or five days in the autumn and winter. Open, remove the dregs and store for use. Take 1-2 teacups warm on an empty stomach each day.

Actions: Tonifies Qi and strengthens the lower back and knees, harmonises the blood vessels

Contraindications: Damp-Heat conditions, pregnancy and long term in the young and middle aged use due to the harmful effects on continuous alcohol consumption.
