Category: Formulas that Expel Dampness

Pattern: Early stage Damp-Heat epidemic disorder

Key Symptoms: Fever, achy limbs, lethargy, swollen throat, a stifling sensation in the chest, abdominal distention, dark scanty urine
Secondary Symptoms: Vomiting, diarrhoea, jaundice or unremitting fever

Tongue: White and greasy, or yellow and dry coating
Pulse: Soggy and rapid


Ingredients
Lian qiao 12-15g
Huang Qin 12-15g
Bo He 6-9g
She Gan 9-12g
Chuan Bei Mu 6-9g
Hua Shi 18-21g
Mu Tong 9-12g
Yin Chen Hao 24-30g
Huo Xiang 9-12g
Shi Chang Ou 4-6g
Bai Dou Kou 10-12g

Subsitutions:
In the UK the following substitutions are necessary:

Hua Shi == Chi Fu Ling + Ze Xie
Mu Tong == Qu Mai



Preparation: Originally ground into powder, formed into pills and taken in 9g doses twice per day with water. Currently usually prepared as a decoction.

Actions: Resolves Dampness, transforms turbidity, clears Heat, resolves toxicity

Contraindications: Significant underlying Yin deficiency
