Pattern: Yangming Warm Pathogen disorder where use of a purgative formula has not been effective and Heat has been transmitted and clumped in the Small Intestine and Bladder

Key Symptoms: Fever, irritability, thirst, abdominal fullness, constipation, reduced urination or urine that is darkish or red in colour, rough urination accompanied by a burning sensation

Tongue: Dry yellow coat
Pulse: Submerged, rapid pulse that is wiry and powerful in the left distal position


Ingredients
Chi Shao 9g
Sheng Di Huang 15g
Da Huang 9g
Huang Lian 6g
Huang Bai 6g
Mang Xiao 3g

Subsitutions:
In the UK Mang Xiao must be substituted for Yu Li Ren.



Preparation: Decocted in 5 cups of water until 2 remain. The patient drinks one cup and only drinks the second if the first does not induce a bowel movement.

Actions: Purges Heat from the Yangming, drains Heat from the Upper Jiao and Lower Jiao, enriches the Yin fluids, promotes urination and clears Heat from the Blood level
