Pattern: Trauma, especially to the Liver and Gallbladder channels

Key Symptoms: Excruciating pain associated with traumatic injury, especially in the chest, hypochondria or flanks


Ingredients
Dang Gui 9g
Tao Ren 9-15g
Hong Hua 6g
Pao Shan Jia 6g
Jiu Zhi Da Huang 30g
Tian Hua Fen 9g
Chai Hu 15g
Gan Cao 6g

Subsitutions:
Since Pao Shan Jia cannot be used in the UK it should be substituted with Mu Dan Pi.



Preparation: Decoction.

Actions: Invigorates the Blood, dispels Blood stasis, spreads the Liver Qi, unblocks the Channels

Contraindications: Pregnancy. If administration causes diarrhoea without complete cure then a different formula should be used.



Notes:
For very intense pain add San Qi, Mo Yao, Ru Xiang and Yan Hu Suo.
For severe Qi stagnation add Yu Jin, Qing Pi and Zhi Ke.
