Category: Formulas that Regulate Qi

Pattern: Liver Qi and Blood stagnation from anger or trauma.

Key Symptoms: Pain beneath the left side of the ribcage

Pulse: Wiry

Huang Lian 6g (Fried in Wu Zhu Yu extract)
Chai Hu 4.5g
Dang Gui 4.5g
Qing Pi 3g
Tao Ren 3g
Zhi Ke 3g
Chuan Xiong 2.1g
Bai Shao 2.1g
Hong Hua 1.5g

Preparation: Decoction to be taken in between meals. Dosages are often increased in modern practice except for Huang Lian.

Actions: Dredges the Liver, regulates the Qi, dispels Stasis, relieves pain, invigorates the Blood, clears Heat

Contraindications: Inappropriate without Liver constrain or pain from Blood Stasis. Caution if internal bleeding is suspected.
