Category: Formulas that Regulate Qi

Pattern: Emotional Liver Qi stagnation with Heat constraint and clumping, Qi and Blood deficiency

Key Symptoms: Depression, anxiety, nervous tension accompanied by hot flushes, dizziness, heavy-headedness, palpitations, abdominal distention, nausea, fatigue, insomnia. Women may experience menstrual irregularity or an association of the symptoms with the menstrual cycle.
Secondary Symptoms: Constipation and irritability

Tongue: Red tip with white coating
Pulse: Excessive and floating


Ingredients
Dang Gui 3-4g
Chuan Xiong 3g
Bai Zhu 3g
Xiang Fu 3-4g
Gui Zhi 2-3g
Huang Qin 2-4g
Ren Shen 1.5-2g
Bing Lang 1-2g
Huang Lian 1-2g
Mu Xiang 1-2g
Ding Xiang 0.5-1g
Gan Cao 1-1.5g
Da Huang 0.5-1g

Subsitutions:
In the UK Bing Lang must be substituted with Zhi Shi and Yu Li Ren.



Preparation: Decoction.

Actions: Soothes the Liver Qi, clears Heat, relieves constraint, disperses clumping, nourishes Qi and Blood.
