Pattern: Postpartum Cold invasion of the womb stagnating Blood

Key Symptoms: Retention of lochia with cold and pain in the lower abdomen, discharge of turbid and decaying blood starting with small purple-red clots and seeping of dark red fluid.

Tongue: Pale purple with purple spots
Pulse: Thin, submerged and choppy


Ingredients
Dang Gui 24g
Chuan Xiong 9g
Tao Ren 6-9g
Pao Jiang 1.5g
Zhi Gan Cao 1.5g



Preparation: Decoction with the optional addition of wine.

Actions: Invigorates the Blood, transforms and dispels Blood stasis, warms the menses, alleviates pain

Contraindications: Blood stasis or haemorrhage due to Heat, pregnancy. Should be modified if there has been normal discharge of lochia.
