Pattern: Warm-Heat pathogen in the Shaoyang stage

Key Symptoms: Strong night fevers with morning coolness, thirst following sweating

Pulse: Wiry on the left


Ingredients
Bie Jia 15g
Qing Hao 9g (add near end)
Tian Hua Fen 6g
Zhi Mu 6g
Sang Ye 6g
Mu Dan Pi 9g

Subsitutions:
In the UK Bie Jia must be substituted by adding Sheng Di Huang and either increasing Qing Hao or adding other deficiency Heat clearing herbs such as Yin Chai Hu or Di Gu Pi depending on the circumstances. Di Gu Pi seems to fit the formula best due to the inclusion of herbs for coughing and sore throat suggesting Lung symptoms are likely to accompany this presentation.



Preparation: Decoction.

Actions: Clears Heat, nourishes Yin
