Pattern: Heat in the Nutritive (Ying) Level

Key Symptoms: High fever that worsens at night, severe irritability and restlessness
Secondary Symptoms: Thirst, delirium, faint and indistinct erythema and purpura.

Tongue: Scarlet, dry
Pulse: Thin, rapid


Ingredients
Xi Jiao 9g
Xuan Shen 9g
Sheng Di Huang 15g
Mai Men Dong 9g
Jin Yin Hua 9g
Lian Qiao 6g
Huang Lian 4.5g
Dan Zhu Ye 3g
Dan Shen 6g

Subsitutions:
Xi Jiao is prohibited by international law and its alternative, Shui Niu Jiao, must also be replaced in the UK too. The best substitution is probably Xuan Shen and Huang Lian in a 3:1 ratio. Both are already in this formula so their dosages should be increased and brought into a 3:1 ratio (e.g. 15g Xuan Shen, 5g Huang Lian).



Preparation: Decoction.

Actions: Clears the Nutritive Level, relieves Fire Toxin, drains Heat, nourishes Yin

Contraindications: Dampness with cold and slippery tongue coat
