Qing Zao Jiu Fei Tang

(Clear Dryness and Rescue the Lungs Decoction)

Pattern: Dryness attacking the Lungs

Key Symptoms: Hacking cough, headache, fever, dry and parches throat, dry nasal passages, sensation of fullness in the chest, hypochondriac pain, irritability

Tongue: Dry with no coat
Pulse: Deficient, large and rapid


Ingredients
Sang Ye 9g
Shi Gao 7.5g
Mai Men Dong 3.6g
E Jiao 2.4g (dissolve into strained decoction)
Chao Hei Zhi Ma 3g
Xing Ren 2.1g
Mi Zhi Pi Pa Ye 3g
Ren Shen 2.1g
Gan Cao 3g

Subsitutions:
In the UK E Jiao must be substituted with Gou Qi Zi and Han Lian Cao. Shi Gao must also be substituted, maybe with Zhi Mu.



Preparation: Decoction.

Actions: Clears Dryness and moistens the Lungs

Contraindications: Deficiency in the absence of exterior signs, Spleen and Stomach deficiency
