Category: Formulas that Dispel Summerheat

Pattern: Severe early stage Summerheat in the Lung Taiyin with Cold fettering the Exterior

Key Symptoms: Fever and chills without sweating, headache, thirst, flushed face, stifling sensation in the chest, a heavy and aching body, dark and rough urination

Tongue: Red with a white, greasy coating
Pulse: Flooding on the right, small on the left



Ingredients
Xiang Ru 6g
Bian Dou Hua 9g
Bai Bian Dou 9g
Hou Po 6g
Jin Yin Hua 9g
Lian Qiao 6g



Preparation: Decoction. Source text advises decocting the herbs with 5 cups of water until 2 remain. Take 1 cup to induce sweating, take a second if this does not occur and repeat until sweating occurs. For best effect it should be taken cold.

Actions: Dispels Summerheat, releases the Exterior, clears Heat, transforms Dampness

Contraindications: Should only be used to induce sweating and stopped once it has occurred.
