Pattern: Spirit consumption (Lao Shen), Kidney deficiency or Blood deficiency

Key Symptoms: Eye pain, visual dizziness, red and swollen eyes
Secondary Symptoms: Chronic nervous exhaustion, diminished visual acuity, easily tired eyes, excessive tearing, itching or pain in the eyes, cataracts, conjunctivitis or sties in constitutionally weak patients who contract Wind-Heat or following surgery or invasive procedures near the eyes.

Tongue: Red with scanty coating, dry, maybe cracked
Pulse: Rapid, thin

Ren Shen 3g
Jie Geng 3g
Zhi Zi 3g
Huang Lian 3g
Bai Zhi 3g
Man Jing Zi 3g
Ju Hua 3g
Gan Cao 3g



Preparation: Originally ground into powder with a pinch of tea and a coil of Deng Xin Cao.

Actions: Enriches Yin, nourishes the Blood, tonifies the Qi, clears Heat, resolves toxicity, brightens the eyes.
