Xiang Sha Jiu

Pattern: Spleen Qi deficiency with Dampness and Phlegm obstructing the Middle Jiao.

Key Symptoms: Vomiting, epigastric distention and pain, reduced appetite, loose stools, shortness of breath, lack of strength, yellow face and thin body

Sha Ren 25g
Ban Xia 30g
Chen Pi 20g
Ren Shen 20g (or Dang Shen 30g)
Fu Ling 40g
Bai Zhu 40g
Zhi Gan Cao 30g
Sheng Jiang 20g
Da Zao 30g
Bai Jiu 1.9L

Bai Jiu (white alcohol) traditionally means distilled rice wine but can be substituted with any clear 40% spirit.

Preparation: Pound the herbs in a pestle to break them up and soak them in 1.9L of alcohol in a sealed jar for 3 days and discard the dregs. Take 1-2 teacups on an empty stomach each morning and evening.

Actions: Tonifies the Spleen and resolves Dampness and Phlegm.

Contraindications: Damp-Heat conditions and long term use due to the harmful effects on continuous alcohol consumption.

This is just the tincture form Xiang Sha Liu Jun Zi Tang for vomiting and epigastric distention and pain.
