Pattern: Yangming Heat with severe depletion of body fluids

Key Symptoms: Dry stools that do not respond to purgatives, distention and fullness of the epigastrium and abdomen
Secondary Symptoms: Dry mouth and lips

Tongue: Dry with a thin, yellow or burnt coating
Pulse: Rapid, thin
Abdomen: Distended and full

Xuan Shen 30g
Mai Men Dong 24g
Sheng Di Huang 24g
Da Huang 9g (add near end)
Mang Xiao 4.5g (dissolve into strained decoction)

In the UK Mang Xiao must be replaced with Yu Li Ren.

Preparation: Decoction.

Actions: Enriches the Yin, generates fluids, drains Heat, unblocks the bowels

Contraindications: Only for deficiency of Yin with accumulation of dry stools
