Zhi Shi Xie Bai Bai Jiu Tang

(Unripe Bitter Orange, Chinese Garlic and White Wine Decoction)

Category: Formulas that Regulate Qi

Pattern: Painful Obstruction of the chest

Key Symptoms: Pain in the chest that radiates to the upper back, wheezing, cough with copious sputum, shortness of breath

Tongue: Thick greasy coating
Pulse: Submerged, wiry or tight

Gua Lou 12g
Xie Bai 9-12g
Bai Jiu 30-60ml

Preparation: Decoction. Often prepared with equal amounts of wine and water. Where wine in contraindicated it may be reduced or omitted entirely.

Actions: Unblocks the Yang, promotes the movement of Qi, expels Phlegm
