Category: Formulas that Dispel Phlegm

Pattern: Phlegm inversion headaches, or upward disturbance of Wind-Phlegm

Key Symptoms: Distending and stifling headaches, vertigo and spots before the eyes, mild nausea, irritability, a stifling sensation in the chest, reluctance to speak, cold extremities, inability to lie down
Secondary Symptoms: Fluctuating or simultaneous signs of excess and deficiency such as fatigue in a person of seemingly strong build, fluctuating blood pressure, headache with tiredness, feeling cold but suffering from hot flushes.

Tongue: Pale with a white, greasy coating
Pulse: Wiry

Ban Xia 7.5g
Mai Ya 7.5g
Chen Pi 7.5g
Bai Zhu 5g
Shen Qu 5g
Tian Ma 2.5g
Cang Zhu 2.5g
Fu Ling 2.5g
Huang Qi 2.5g
Ze Xie 2.5g
Ren Shen 2.5g
Gan Jiang 1g
Huang Bai 1g


Preparation: Grind the herbs into a coarse powder and prepare as s draft by boiling 25g in a cup of water to take warm before meals.


Actions: Transforms Phlegm, extinguishes Wind, augments the Qi, benefits the Stomach
