Bu Lao Ren Shen Wan

Supplement Exhaustion with Ginseng Pills

Category: Formulas that Tonify Qi

Pattern: Small Red Vein Passing the Eyes (小赤脈傳睛 Xiao Chi Mai Chuan Jing) due to Heart and Kidney Exhaustion confusing the Heart-Spirit.

Key Symptoms: Confusion of the Heart-Spirit with Red blood vessels appearing from the outer canthus.


Ingredients

Ren Shen
Fu Ling
Bai Fu Zi
Xu Duan
Yuan Zhi
Ju Hua
Gan Cao

Subsitutions:
Bai Fu Zi cannot be used in the UK so must be substituted. Shi Chang Pu and Tian Nan Xing may help to vaporise Phlegm and expel Wind. Hu Po could also help settle the Spirit.


Preparation: Grind into powder and form into large pellets with honey. Take one pill per dose and chew finely after meals with a decoction of Jie Geng three times per day.


Actions: Heals the Heart-Spirit from confusion, nourishes the Heart and Kidneys and transforms Phlegm

Contraindications: This formula mainly tonifies and Dampness and Heat should be cleared with "Xie Gan San" or "Liu Xian San" first.
