Pattern: Blood Stasis due to traumatic injury to the Large Intestine Vital Points during the Mao 卯 hours of the Rabbit (5 - 7 am)

Key Symptoms: Abdominal pain, restlessness, anxiety and insomnia with constipation or bloody diarrhoea and due to traumatic injury to the Large Intestine Vital Points during the Mao 卯 Rabbit hours (5 - 7 am).
Secondary Symptoms: The Vital Points associated with the Mao Large Intestine Rabbit hours in the Wu Bei Zhi are: Shousanli LI-10, Renying St-9, Qupen St-12, Erheliao SJ-22, Ququan Liv-8, Huiyin Ren-1 and Xinhui Du-22.

Xie Bai 3.75g
Dan Shen 7.5g
Su Mu 3.75g
Yan Hu Suo 3.75g
Bai Tou Weng 3.75g
Yu Jin 3.75g


Preparation: No preparation information is given in the original so may have been given internally or as a poultice.


Actions: Regulates Blood, stops bleeding and alleviates pain, clears Heat, calms the Shen and alleviates dysentery

Information is taken from McCarthy, (2016), Bubishi: The Classic Manual of Combat. Symptoms have been inferred from the organs which are affected and the effects of the herbs prescribed as the original provides nothing beyond these formulas being used for injury to these channels. The herbs themselves are presented only in Latin at a species level by McCarthy so a reverse translation has had to applied which may not always be precise.
