Category: Formulas that Calm the Spirit

Pattern: Heart Qi deficiency and constraint caused by Phlegm turbidity

Key Symptoms: Palpitations, forgetfulness, dizziness, anxiety, confusion, inability to concentrate
Secondary Symptoms: Disorientation, apprehension, worry, incessant laughter and glee, nearsightedness

Tongue: Pale body with white coat
Pulse: Deep, tight, without force


Ingredients

Ren Shen 9g
Fu Ling 9g
Shi Chang Pu 6g
Yuan Zhi 6g


Preparation: Ground into powder and formed into pills with honey to take in 6g doses. Presently usually prepared as a decoction.


Actions: Tonifies the Heart, strengthens the resolve, calms the Shen

Contraindications: Blood or Yin deficiency without the presence of Phlegm-Dampness



Notes:
Can also be used to treat insomnia if herbs like Dang Gui, Suan Zao Ren and Bai Zi Ren are added.
