Liu Lihong (2019, Classical Chinese Medicine, pp.398-400) points out the importance of historical accuracy and dosage with this formula. One liang in modern measurements is taken as 3g but in Eastern Han times was equivalent to 15.625g! This means that the dosage of Gan Cao in this formula may have been as high as 30g.
