Category: Formulas that Treat Abscesses and Sores

Pattern: Abscesses and sores due to accumulation of Fire Toxins and Stagnation of Qi and Blood or Phlegm-Fire

Key Symptoms: Early stage sores and carbuncles with red, swollen, hot and painful lesions
Secondary Symptoms: Fever, mild chills, headache

Tongue: Normal colour with thin white or yellow coating
Pulse: Rapid and forceful


Ingredients

Bai Zhi
Zhe Bei Mu
Fang Feng
Dang Gui
Gan Cao
Chi Shao
Zao Jiao Ci (charred)
Tian Hua Fen
San Leng
E Zhu
Jin Yin Hua
Chen Pi
Kun Bu
Tong Cao
Xia Ku Cao


Preparation: Cooked in one part water and one part wine to increase the the Blood invigorating effects. The dregs may be applied topically.


Actions: Clears Heat, eliminates Toxins, reduces swelling, softens hardness, activates Blood circulation, stops pain



Notes:
This is related to Xian Fang Huo Ming Yin but with the removal of Chuan Shan Jia due to it being derived from an endangered animal, with Mo Yao and Ru Xiang changed for E Zhu and San Leng, and the addition of Kun Bu, Tong Cao and Xia Ku Cao to enhance the ability to soften hardness and eliminate stagnation.
