Jia Jian Su He Tang

Modified Perilla and Menthol Decoction

Category: Formulas that Expel Parasites

Pattern: All types of Gu Syndrome with deficiency of Qi and Blood causing the patient to be unable to tolerate Hot or Cold medicinals.

Key Symptoms: Bloating, swelling, madness, depression and epilepsy, fatigue and intolerance to Hot or Cold medicines
Secondary Symptoms: Flu-like symptoms, coughing or other signs of Qi counterflow, dark urine, patient usually gets worse after ingesting tonics.

Abdomen: Tight abdominal wall


Ingredients

Zi Su Ye 15g
Bo He 15g
Bai Zhi 15g
Wu Jia Pi 15g
Gan Cao 15g
Huang Qi 15g
Dang Gui 21g
Chuan Xiong 15g
He Shou Wu 15g
Bai He 15g
San Leng 6g
E Zhu 6g
Yu Jin 3g
Ze Lan 6g
Mu Xiang 3g
Ding Xiang 3g
Chen Pi 6g


Preparation: Decoct with 3 slices of Sheng Jiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Officinalis Recens). If patient becomes constipated after taking Jia Jian Su He Tang, switch to Su He Tang.


Actions: Kills parasites and detoxifies poisons, clears Heat, expels Wind and Dampness, harmonises the middle Jiao, nourishes Qi, Blood and Yin, regulates Qi and breaks up Blood stasis, calms the Spirit.
