Pattern: Heart and Kidneys not communicating

Key Symptoms: Irritability, restlessness, severe continuous palpitations, coolness of the lower limbs, great difficulty in falling asleep


Ingredients

Huang Lian 5g
Rou Gui 0.5g


Preparation: Ground and formed into pills with honey, but can also be prepared as a decoction with the dosages above.


Actions: Reestablishes harmonious communication between the Heart and Kidneys



Notes:
Liu Lihong (2019, Classical Chinese Medicine, p. 384) describes how this formula's name is based around the I Ching hexagram Tai ䷊ as it encourages the Yang to descend and facilities the intermingling of Qi.
