Pattern: Wind Strike (中風, Zhong Feng) with Channel Strike (中經, Zhong Jing) pattern

Key Symptoms: Paralysed facial skin and muscles, deviated eyes and mouth, water leaking from the corner of the mouth when rinsing because the lips do not hold it, incomplete closure of the eyes
Secondary Symptoms: Hot putrid breath

Tongue: Thick slimy yellow tongue fur
Pulse: Sunken and slippery that is forceful at depth


Ingredients

Da Huang 3-10g (fresh)
Zhi Shi 10g
Hou Po 10g
Qiang Huo 10g
Gua Lou 30g
Ban Xia 10g
Fang Feng 10g
Tao Ren 10g (crushed)
Gou Teng 20-30g
Ming Fen 6-9g (refined)

Subsitutions:
In the UK Ming Fen must be substituted. It softens hardness and drains heat through the bowels so could be substituted with Yu Li Ren and Kun Bu or Hai Zao.


Preparation: Decoction.


Actions: Frees the bowels and transforms Phlegm, invigorates the Blood and frees the Channels and Collaterals.
