Shan Yao Jiu

Key Symptoms: Diarrhoea, spermatorrhoea, copious urination, urinary incontinence, night time urination, night sweats


Ingredients

Shan Yao 300g
Bai Jiu 1.9L

Subsitutions:
Bai Jiu (white alcohol) traditionally means distilled rice wine but can be substituted with any clear 40% spirit.


Preparation: Place Shan Yao in a large jar with 1.9L of alcohol and seal the lid for 1 month. Open, remove the dregs and store for use. Take 10-40ml three times per day. Lemon juice can be added to increase astringent effect.


Actions: Tonifies Qi and Yang of the Spleen and Kidneys, stops leakage.

Contraindications: Damp-Heat conditions and long term use due to the harmful effects on continuous alcohol consumption.
