Shen Qi Jiu

Ginseng and Lycium Wine

Pattern: Kidney Yin and Jing deficiency

Key Symptoms: Fatigue, soreness and weakness of the lower back and knees, impotence, tinnitus, vertigo, lustreless complexion


Ingredients

Gou Qi Zi 30g
Shu Di Huang 30g
Mai Men Dong 18g
Xing Ren 10g
Ren Shen 6g
Fu Ling 10g
Bai Jiu 1.3L

Subsitutions:
Bai Jiu (white alcohol) traditionally means distilled rice wine but can be substituted with any clear 40% spirit.


Preparation: Crush the herbs in a pestle and place them in a jar with 1.3L of alcohol for 7 days. Open, remove the dregs and store for use. Take 10ml warm before meals morning and evening.


Actions: Supplements the Jing and Marrow, enriches the Yin and brightens the eyes, moistens all five Zang (Lungs, Heart, Spleen, Liver and Kidneys), prolonged use rolls back the years.

Contraindications: Damp-Heat conditions and long term use in the young due to the harmful effects on continuous alcohol consumption.
