Sheng Jin He Wei Cha

Engender Fluids and Harmonise the Stomach Tea

Pattern: Lung and Stomach Dryness causing Qi to counterflow.

Key Symptoms: Cough with a dry throat or reflux and hiccoughs.


Ingredients

Xue Li 3pc
Ou Jie 1pc
He Geng 1pc
Ju Luo 3g
Lian Xin 10pc
Gan Cao 3g
Sheng Jiang 3sl
Ren Shen 6g


Preparation: Peel the pears, lotus nodes and fresh ginger and then pound into a liquid. Then chop the lotus stem into pieces, slice the ginseng, and place into a pot with the licorice, tangerine pith and lotus pumules. Add water and boil for 30 minutes, let cool and strain off the liquid. Mix the two liquids together, stirring evenly. Take one packet per day, drunk freely as tea.


Actions: Moistens the Lungs, engenders fluids and stops cough.



Notes:
While Zong and Liscum (1996) are the published source, the formulas they present are simple folk remedies and likely much older.
