Yi Yi Ren Tang

Coix Seed Decoction

Category: Formulas that Expel Dampness

Pattern: Wind-Damp swelling in the joints

Key Symptoms: Swelling and pain in the joints (usually the hands and feet), numbness and difficulty moving the joints, especially if it has not responded to treatment or been improperly treated.
Secondary Symptoms: Fever


Ingredients

Yi Yi Ren 24g
Ma Huang 6g
Cang Zhu 9g
Dang Gui 9g
Gui Zhi 6g
Bai Shao 9g
Zhi Gan Cao 3g

Subsitutions:
In the UK Ma Huang is limited to a maximum daily dose of 1.8g, or a maximum single dose of 0.6g. If required it may be supplemented with Zi Su Ye and Jing Jie to increase its warm, wind-expelling properties.

Prepared forms often substitute Cang Zhu for Bai Zhu.


Preparation: Decoction.


Actions: Disperses swelling in the Exterior and moistens dried Blood in the Interior
