Category: Formulas that Treat Abscesses and Sores

Pattern: Half Yin, half Yang localised swellings that look as if they are about to ulcerate but do not.

Key Symptoms: Swellings that are just slightly delineated, mildly painful, pale red, slightly warm but not hot
Secondary Symptoms: Underlying signs of Qi deficiency such as fatigue, poor appetite, pale complexion

Ren Shen 6g
Chen Pi 6g
Huang Qi 4.5g
Bai Zhu 4.5g
Dang Gui 4.5g
Bai Zhi 4.5g
Fu Ling 3g
Chuan Xiong 3g
Zao Jiao Ci 3g
Ru Xiang 3g
Mo Yao 3g
Jin Yin Hua 3g
Gan Cao 3g


Preparation: Prepare as decoction using one part water and one part wine.


Actions: Tonifies Qi, invigorates the Blood, reduces swelling and alleviates pain
