Traditional Actions/Indications:

  1. Nourishes Yin, cools Heat in the Blood and clears Empty Fire
    Night sweats, hot flushes, anxiety, insomnia, five palm heat
    Bleeding, varicosity, haemorrhoids, phlebitis, hypertension
    Fatigue with nervous weakness, insomnia, burnout, adrenal fatigue, emotional shock
  2. Subdues Liver Wind
    Headaches with restlessness and insomnia
    Spasms, cramps and convulsions
    Labour pains, protracted labour, menstrual cramps, dysmenorrhoea, scanty or absent menstruation, pre-menstrual syndrome
  3. Descends Running Piglet Qi
    Panic attacks, fright, paranoia, hysteria, stress, nervous tension, depression
    Bronchial spasms in asthma associated with anxiety

Cautions: May be oestrogenic and narcotic in large doses. Avoid in cancer and pregnancy. May increase the effects of alcohol.

Blends with: Citrus oils such as Lemon, Lime, and Wild Orange, as well as other essential oils like Frankincense, Cypress, Geranium, and Sandalwood.
