Notes:

Cypress is the tree of the West. In the ancient myth, all other trees grow towards East where the sun rises, but cypress grows towards West. Metal has a purifying quality, so cypress is planted at graveyards to keep the souls of the deceased in peace and tranquillity. 白 "White" is the colour of Metal, signifying that this tree energetically resonates with Metal, so it can expel Wind through the controlling cycle of Metal control Wood (Jeffrey Yuen Study Group, 24/11/2021).
