Traditional Actions/Indications:

  1. Clears Heat and calms the Shen
    Hot, agitated emotional states, headache, insomnia, nervous tension
    Aids meditation, prayer and spiritual practices
  2. Moistens the Lungs and opens the diaphragm
    Chronic dry cough, sore throat, tonsilitis, earache, sinusitis
  3. Regulates the Blood Vessels
    Varicose veins, swollen lymph nodes
  4. Dried Dampness and nourishes Yin
    Dry or oily skin, eczema, psoriasis, acne

Blends with: Floral essential oils like Lavender, Jasmine, and Geranium; citrus oils like Bergamot or Grapefruit; and warm, spicy oils like Frankincense

Notes:

Human skin cells have receptors for sandalwood which has triggered research into synthetic sandalwood components in shampoo for the treatment of stress related hair loss (Jimenez et al., 2021).
