Pricing Structure
Consultations and Treatments
- Base fee of £40 which covers the booking, setup, administration and 20 minutes of consultation, consisting of an interview, examination, diagnosis and development of a treatment strategy.
- All treatments cost £30 for 30 minutes of treatment which can include:
While some exercises, advice, or explanation of the treatment principles is usually included within the time we have, these refer to a 30 minute session to explore these areas in greater depth with examples, corrections and further clarification.
Chinese medicine is dynamic and the base fee must be paid each week, in order to reassess the current state of the condition, develop a new strategy, and covers the administration and setup for your session.
In order to schedule, the number of treatments taken together must be decided in advance.
Packages
If you are seeking a course of treatment, I offer some package deals to help with the overall cost:
- "Quick Fix": A consultation and 2 standard treatment sessions in 1 week: £100 (great for an intensive burst for acute situations, or when a longer session is better administered as two short ones with some recovery time in between)
- "Maintenance": 6 combined consultations and standard treatment sessions over 3 months/12 weeks: £350 (saving £70 - great for fortnightly sessions, or to start weekly and taper off gradually)
- "Transformation": 12 combined standard treatment sessions over 100 days / 14 weeks, plus herbs (see conditions below): £1000 (saving up to £240 - great for chronic conditions that require a serious commitment to change)
Packages are paid for in advance and all sessions must be taken within the allotted time. Sessions that fall outside the time frame are non-refundable.
Herbs
In addition to the fees outlined above for consultation (£40) and calculation of a herbal prescription (£30), the herbs themselves are sold at a cost of:
- £40 for 8 days of herbs (2 sachets powder per day) + £5 postage.
- This is equivalent to £5 per day or £2.50 per cup; far less than the price of a coffee from most major chains, and contains the extracted compounds from approximately 45 g of raw herbs per cup, that are:
- Grown, harvested and processed following traditional methods to ensure their potency;
- Extracted and dried for your convenience;
- Shipped half-way around the world;
- Tested to ensure they meet the stringent Herbmark quality assurance standard;
- And then formulated to meet your individual needs.
- Includes minor modifications based on remote follow ups by text or email.
- Full reviews and major revisions require an additional consultation and prescription fee. This is usually required after a significant change in symptoms or circumstances which may render the old formula inappropriate, and require a complete change in strategy.
- Discounts may be applied for long term prescriptions:
- 16 days / 2 weeks = £80, including £5 postage
- 32 days / 1 month = £150, including £5 carriage
- 100 days / 3 month course = £400, including all postage costs
- Large formulas and higher dosages, if needed, may require additional charges to meet with costs. Usually this will involve taking three times per day at a 50% increase in cost.
- Rare or expensive herbs, especially at high dosages, may also require an additional charge. I will inform you of any additional costs prior to ordering.
- Most formulas will be calculated after the consultation and prepared only after payment.
Cancellation
- Cancellations or changes to appointment times must be made 48 hours in advance or incur loss of deposit.
- If the appointment can be re-booked and paid in advance, £20 of this cancellation fee can be redeemed against the cost of the new session
- Cancellations made within this time will be waived on production of a doctors certificate or a positive lateral flow or PCR test result
- Not turning up may incur the full price of the session
Insurance
I would advise anyone with health insurance to check if their policy covers acupuncture. Currently the following insurers offer cover for acupuncture from practitioners belonging to my professional body:
BAcC List of Private Health Insurers
In addition people with chronic arthritis should investigate Arthritis Action for the possibility of subsidised treatments.
Since claiming through insurance involves a considerable amount of administration, delays and fees taken by intermediary agents, an additional £5 administration fee is required, making a standard session £75. Most insurers currently pay up to £60 per session, meaning that a £15 shortfall must be paid by the client.
Methods of Payment
Payment is preferred upfront with via online transfer but I can also accept:
