Traditional Actions/Indications:
  1. Strengthens the Spleen and promotes digestion
    Diarrhoea
    Diabetes, prediabetes, obesity, high cholesterol
    Persistent heartburn
    Enhancing athletic performance

Suggested Daily Dosage: 8-15g per day, often added to food as a chocolate substitute.


Cautions: Carob has a high FODMAP rating due to its fructan content (Bolan, 2022) and so should be avoided in cases of abdominal distention due to Spleen Dampness.
