Due to its specific habitat, slow growth rate, and difficulty in artificial cultivation, long-term predatory harvesting has brought its wild resources to the brink of extinction. China has listed Snow Lotus as a National second-class protected wild plant (Baidu, nd).
It is considered one of the "Nine Great Immortal Herbs" (Baidu, nd).
