Traditional Actions/Indications:
- Clears the Liver and brightens the eyes (cleanses the Liver)
Night blindness, Superficial Visual Obstruction and cataracts, nebula, glaucoma, night blindness
Especially useful for red eyes or bleeding into the whites of the eyes (sub-conjunctival bleeding) associated with Liver Heat
- Disperses Blood Stasis, disperses bruises and reduces accumulations
Traumatic injury
Accumulations from Infantile malnutrition, malnutrition
Scrofula, malaria
Suggested Daily Dosage: 3-10g in decoction.
Cautions: It is contraindicated for eye disease without stasis and pregnant women.
Animal products are prohibited from use in the UK under the Medicines Act 1968 ch. 67 which restricts herbalists to the use of plant products only.
May be the source of several zoonotic diseases, including being suspected as the origin of SARS and Coronavirus (Cui, Li & Shi, 2019).
