3 cun proximal to the medial superior border of the patella, in a tender depression on the bulge of the vastus medialis muscle, 1 cun proximal to Xuehai Sp-10.
Perpendicular or oblique insertion 1 - 1.5 cun

Superficial Innervation: Medial cutaneous nerve of the thigh (L2, L3)

It lies very close to Xuehai Sp-10 which is also an important point for treatment of skin diseases.
