Usually rendered into English as Pathogenic Qi, the term 邪 Xie covers a range of meanings including "heretical; demonic; nefarious or perverse". It is opposed by 正氣 Zheng Qi ("just; correct; upright" Qi) creating a setting of the just fighting against wickedness and corruption within the body.
