Gua Lou Qu Mai Wan

Trichosanthes and Dianthus Pill

Category: Formulas that Expel Dampness

Pattern: Dampness obstructing the Bladder; Xiao Ke due to Heat and Dryness in the Upper Jiao and Cold obstructing the Lower Jiao

Key Symptoms: Inhibited urination, thirst


Ingredients

Tian Hua Fen 6g
Qu Mai 3g
Fu Zi 5g
Shan Yao 9g
Fu Ling 9g

Subsitutions:
In the UK Fu Zi must be substituted but no herbs can really warm the Yang in the same way. Cinnamon is known to assist to blood sugar so Rou Gui could be a suitable substitute in Xiao Ke treatment.


Preparation: Made into pills.


Actions: Clears Heat from the upper Jiao, warms Kidney Yang to Drain Dampness from the Middle and Lower Jiao
