Ren Shen Hua Ban Tang

Ginseng Decoction to Transform Maculae

Category: Formulas that Clear Heat

Pattern: Lurking Warm Pathogens with Heat flaring in the Qi and Blood levels

Key Symptoms: Fever that does not subside in spite of sweating or the emergence of macular rashes

Tongue: Yellow tongue coating
Pulse: Rapid


Ingredients

Ren Shen 4.5g
Shi Gao 9g
Yu Zhu 4.5g
Zhi Mu 4.5g
Gan Cao 9g
Cheng Can Mi 9g (old stored rice)

Subsitutions:
Xi Yang Shen is often substituted for Ren Shen.
Shi Gao should be substituted with other Qi level Heat clearing herbs like Huang Qin, Lian Qiao, Zhi Zi and Dan Zhu Ye. If Blood Heat is strong then Sheng Di Huang or Xuan Shen may be more appropriate.


Preparation: Decoction.


Actions: Clears Qi level Heat and cools the Blood
