Category: Formulas that Tonify Qi and Blood

Pattern: Qi and Blood Deficiency, disharmony of Yang Wei Mai where Ying and Wei are too fearful to produce fever or chills.

Key Symptoms: Pallor or sallow complexion, reduced appetite, easily fatigued extremities, lightheadedness, dizziness
Secondary Symptoms: Palpitations, anxiety, shortness of breath, laconic speech, lowered vitality

Tongue: Pale body, thin white coat
Pulse: Thin and frail or large and deficient, without strength
Abdomen: Weak and soft


Ingredients

Ren Shen 3-9g
Bai Zhu 9g
Fu Ling 9-15g
Zhi Gan Cao 5g
Shu Di Huang 15g
Bai Shao 9-15g
Dang Gui 9g
Chuan Xiong 5g
Sheng Jiang 6sl
Da Zao 4pc


Preparation: Decoction. Also known as Women's Precious Pills if ground into powder and formed into pills.


Actions: Tonifies and augments the Qi and Blood

Contraindications: Excess conditions



Notes:
This is essentially a combination of Si Jun Zi Tang and Si Wu Tang.

Several variations with additions exist including:

Shi Quan Da Bu Tang by addition of Huang Qi and Rou Gui to enhance its effects on warming tonifying Qi
Ba Zhen Yi Mu Wan by addition of Yi Mu Cao to enhance its focus on gynaecological disorders
Jia Wei Ba Zhen Tang by changing Bai Zhu to Cang Zhu and adding Long Chi, Mo Yao, Niu Huang, Ru Xiang and envoys specific to the body part being treated, to regulate Blood and settle the Shen in cases of traumatic injury
Qi Xue Shu Fu Tang by changing Fu Ling for Fu Shen and adding Ye Jiao Teng and Yuan Zhi to enhance the action on invigorating Blood and calming the Shen
