Pattern: Blood Stasis due to traumatic injury to the Spleen Vital Points during the Si 巳 hours of the Snake (9 - 11 am)

Key Symptoms: Stomach pain with nausea, vomiting (possibly of blood), indigestion and loss of appetite due to traumatic injury to the Spleen Vital Points during the Si 巳 Snake hours (9 - 11 am).
Secondary Symptoms: The Vital Points associated with the Si Spleen Snake hours in the Wu Bei Zhi are: Fujie Sp-14, Kunlun Bl-60, Taixi Kid-3, Qimen Liv-14, Jiuwei Ren-15 and Baihui Du-20.

Bai Dou Kou 6.24g
Fu Ling 6.24g
Cang Zhu 3.75g (fried)
Chuan Shan Long 3.75g
Bai Shao 6.24g (or charred Liang Tou Jian)
Chuan Xiong 6.24g


Preparation: No preparation information is given in the original so may have been given internally or as a poultice.


Actions: Regulates Blood, stops bleeding and alleviates pain, transforms Dampness, expels Wind, warms the Middle Jiao and descends Stomach Qi

Information is taken from McCarthy, (2016), Bubishi: The Classic Manual of Combat. Symptoms have been inferred from the organs which are affected and the effects of the herbs prescribed as the original provides nothing beyond these formulas being used for injury to these channels. The herbs themselves are presented only in Latin at a species level by McCarthy so a reverse translation has had to applied which may not always be precise.
