Category: Formulas that Clear Heat

Pattern: Flesh Exerting and Climbing onto the Eyeball (努肉攀睛) due to Toxic Fire entering the Spleen and Stomach

Key Symptoms: Strong itching of the inner canthus of the eye accompanied by the growth of a film over the inner eye.
Secondary Symptoms: Grief and depression where they ponder through the night, or overindulgence in wine and food


Ingredients

Huang Lian 160g
Huang Bai 160g
Huang Qin 120g
Ren Shen 120g
Jie Geng 140g
Ban Xia 80g
Zhi Zi 80g


Preparation: Grind into powder to make into small pills with honey. One dose is 50 pills taken with tea.


Actions: Clears Heat from the Spleen and Stomach



Notes:
This formula was often accompanied by excision of the pterygium, aimed at preventing a relapse.
