Category: Formulas that Dispel Phlegm

Pattern: Inversion due to Phlegm

Key Symptoms: Fainting with headache and dizziness, a stifling sensation in the chest and diaphragm, reduced appetite, coughing and wheezing with copious sputum and difficulty breathing
Secondary Symptoms: restlessness when sitting or lying down, thick and gummy nasal discharge and saliva

Tongue: White, greasy coat
Pulse: Slippery
Abdomen: Focal distention with full hypochondria and flanks


Ingredients

Zhi Ban Xia 12g
Ju Hong 3g
Fu Ling 3g
Zhi Shi 3g
Zhi Tian Nan Xing 3g


Preparation: Decoction.


Actions: Dries Dampness, clears away Phlegm, promotes the movement of Qi, opens up areas of constraint

Contraindications: Yin deficiency or Heat due to the drying and moving nature of the formula
