Modified Lophatherum and Gypsum Decoction

Category: Formulas that Clear Heat

Pattern: Heat lingering in the Lungs and Stomach retained by Phlegm

Key Symptoms: For the sequalae of measles and scarlet fever when the illness appears to have resolved but the fever has not subsided
Secondary Symptoms: Thirst, sore throat, cough with copious sputum.


Ingredients

Dan Zhu Ye 30pc
Sang Ye 4.5g
Sang Bai Pi 4.5g
Jin Yin Hua 9g
Lu Gen 30g
Shi Gao 18g
Xing Ren 9g
Lian Qiao 9g
Bai Luo Bo Zhi 30g
Gan Cao 1.8g
Zhe Bei Mu 9g
Dong Gua Ren 12g

Subsitutions:
In the UK Shi Gao must be substituted. Zhi Mu, Ye Ju Hua, Ban Lan Gen or Niu Bang Zi could be suitable substitutes for clearing Heat and moistening the throat. Huang Qin or Gua Lou could help resolve Heat or Phlegm in the chest if this is more significant in the presentation.


Preparation: Decoction.


Actions: Clears Heat, transforms Phlegm, releases the Exterior
